Manson Bridge Adjusters FAQ

Why do I want a bridge adjuster?

Bass players are increasingly feeling the necessity for quick and easy adjustment of string height. Sometimes different repertoire demands a higher or lower action, and sometimes atmospheric conditions bring about an undesired change in string height.

Either way, a simple fool-proof way of adjustment which does not require a trip to one’s repairer is rapidly becoming the norm for many bass players.

What is special about Manson Bridge Adjusters?

Tony Manson's bridge adjusters have been developed in collaboration with bass maker and repairer Roger Dawson of London. They have been precision engineered, and are both light and discreetly elegant.

The string tension on a double bass bridge is such that the screw thread in both stud and wheel need to be strong and long-lasting. For this reason, the wheels are made of special tough aluminium alloy, and the studs of stainless steel using an advanced threading technique.

Each wheel is gauge tested for optimum thread fit. To complete the assembly, the aluminium wheels are electrically treated using a technique usually reserved for fine scientific instruments.

This care in manufacture gives a thread which is long-lasting and free running, and the hard surface finish of the aluminium alloy prevents thread binding under pressure. This ensures a long trouble free life.

Will it affect the sound of my instrument?

Players using them say they don't! These adjusters have been designed to be much lighter than the brass ones which are commonly available, but much more hard-wearing than those made from plain aluminium. At 15 grammes per adjuster, these are among the lightest bridge adjusters on the market.
